Redesign on my DNA strand
The different ways to cast materials:
  • Moulding
  • Sand casting
  • Permanent Mould casting
  • Investment casting
  • Lost foam casting
  • Die casting
  • Centrifugal casting
  • Glass casting
  • Slip Casting

This mould process is where we had our latex moulds filled with plaster and the plaster is infused with PVA to make it stronger, once the plaster was added we smacked the side of the mould with a pencil to get the bubbles out and then left it to set.

This is my clay model of a basic dinosaur head, the process was too wedge the clay and to wedge you have to smack the clay on the table to get all the air out and if you wanted to attach another bit of clay to another you had to cross-hatch the area you wish to attach and cover it in slip, after that I moulded my dinosaur head.

Evaluation questions: Platform Games.

Q.1: What drawings did you do for this project?

The drawings I have done are initial sketches of dinosaurs, different designs of levels and multiple enemy's also i did sketches for my clay models.

Q.2: What materials did you use?

The materials I used are Pen&Paper for my sketches, Photoshop for my developed drawings and level design, air drying clay and terracotta clay for my models of dinosaurs and construct for my playable level.

Q.3: How successful were you at using these materials?

I have been successful doing my drawings, level designs and level creation so far with using these materials.

Q.4: How did drawing help you formulate your ideas?

By drawing the dinosaurs and levels i have gained alot of new ideas for my game on the other hand the drawings i have done have given me new ways to look at it too like hybrids and daemons.

Q.7: What techniques have you used?

The techniques i used were cross hatching when we were moulding, wedging, blending and shading.

Q.8: What processes have you used?

The process for me was to sketch a dinosaur then to scan it into Photoshop and develop it and modify it.

Q.9: How successful were these at helping you achieve your 2 D project?

All the techniques and materials helped me develop my drawings alot and helped me put in more detail and in my case i can put in skin textures for my dinosaurs in Photoshop and to warp colour around to morph it into smoke.
This one of my collectables, this one gives you DNA points, i did this in Photoshop i kept changing the colour on my cursor and dabbing it each time with a different colour to represent the cells.
