FMP update in depth.

This update i added the multicolour fishes to my piece, the reason i added them was to give the piece a bit more going on into it.

This is were i am putting the school of fish slightly above the vortex and have them in the position like they are swimming away from the vortex.

I dropped the "fishes" layer near the bottom because this makes the fishes fade into the background as seen here

This makes the fish fade into the background to show them swimming away into the gloom.

FMP Update.

I added an arm coming out of the vortex in my final piece to show that the demon is trying to pass through and destroy the sirens home.

These are the brush settings for the arm i did, i used a soft brush and a size of 35px.

These are the blur settings, i used Gaussian blur so the arm looks like it is underwater, i set it to 2.8, this makes it not too blurred.  

Artist Research #2

This painting is a Siren who has captured people and eaten them, this piece looks like a digital painting done in Photoshop, the artist has rendered the gauze on the mermaids arm using a low opacity brush and i think the artist used the blocking in the colours technique where by you build up the layers similar to traditional painting.
The sirens have lured the sailors to the rocks by singing and eaten them.
The colour of the sky is grey to give the gloomy feeling and the mist gives the element of surprise for the sirens.
The artist focuses on the siren her self and the skulls tell us what she has done to the abducted sailors.
This is relevant to my project because i want to do an underwater scene for my FMP and mermaids have quite a evil reputation and could be underwater demons.
The artist who drew this piece is called Anne Stoke.

Demon Portal Face Experiments

What have I done? I have warped and changed my scanned in face in horrific ways.

Why did i do it? I did this to change my face in demonic ways to give myself a better idea of how iam going to developed demon.

How did i do it? I changed and messed around with some filters for example on face 6, I liquefied it

and spun it round and round so it looks like demons coming out of a vortex.

How am i going to develop it? I am going to use the facial features and add them to my demon.

Section 1: Review (Approx 150 words)

I am doing a fantasy underwater landscape concept drawing, this can be used to show a mood and style of an underwater adventure game, I have been doing mind maps of underwater aspects like what sort of creatures will be inhabiting the surface of the ocean, I am using Photoshop for my landscape the previous projects I used Photoshop for were my Spinosaurus and my twisted tales final piece by doing these things I understand how to use the software and all of its tools and aspects at an intermediate level, I can use Photoshop to tap into my inner creativity, I feel I have more control and can achieve my ideas much more efficiently using Photoshop then traditional drawing methods.

Section 2: Project Concept (approx 250 words)

I will do research on fantasy art and how it can be included in an underwater environment and I will look at artists that draw aquascapes, I will look at different styles because If I look at just one, that one artists has the same “personality” however by looking at a variety of artists I can see a lot more techniques.  The Idea I have in mind is that the camera will be looking at a diagonal angle from the sea bed to the surface, the research I will do in the future will be about fantasy plants in the water some of the research came from the wiki but most of it came from my own knowledge. My influences are that I love the sea and fantasy art so I thought to myself I’ll put them together, I had a look at some pictures and gained an idea of the sort of thing to try and strive for. I will have a demon character, so I will research different demons from different game like devil may cry also I will look at traditional demons and traditional art forms.

Section 3: Evaluation (approx 100 words)

I will be using Photoshop to create my work using various tools from the interface primarily I will be using the gradient tool to slide colour along a set path also I will be using the pen tool, the pen tool is very important because it can curve the colour and curve the plants in the water which gives it that underwater feel also I use the paint brush tool, I will use the soft brush to give it that underwater blur and blend the colours together. I will use my knowledge of composition and perspective to plan out my work. Ill is using sketching to do observational drawings and to sketch out my ideas. I will be using the drawings for reference for my Photoshop drawings. See separate plan for timetable.
