Proposal New/Plan

Kane Aldington

Games Design
Project
Section 1: Review (Approx 150 words)
I am doing a fantasy underwater landscape concept drawing, this can be used to show a mood and style of an underwater adventure game, I have been doing mind maps of underwater aspects like what sort of creatures will be inhabiting the surface of the ocean, I am using Photoshop for my landscape the previous projects I used Photoshop for were my Spinosaurus and my twisted tales final piece by doing these things I understand how to use the software and all of its tools and aspects at an intermediate level, I can use Photoshop to tap into my inner creativity, I feel I have more control and can achieve my ideas much more efficiently using Photoshop then traditional drawing methods.

Section 2: Project Concept (approx 250 words)
I will do research on fantasy art and how it can be included in an underwater environment and I will look at artists that draw aquascapes, I will look at different styles because If I look at just one, that one artists has the same “personality” however by looking at a variety of artists I can see a lot more techniques.
The Idea I have in mind is that the camera will be looking at a diagonal angle from the sea bed to the surface, the research I will do in the future will be about fantasy plants in the water some of the research came from the wiki but most of it came from my own knowledge.
My influences are that I love the sea and fantasy art so I thought to myself I’ll put them together, I had a look at some pictures and gained an idea of the sort of thing to try and strive for.
I will have a demon character, so I will research different demons from different game like devil may cry also I will look at traditional demons and traditional art forms.

Section 3: Evaluation (approx 100 words)
I will be using Photoshop to create my work using various tools from the interface primarily I will be using the gradient tool to slide colour along a set path also I will be using the pen tool, the pen tool is very important because it can curve the colour and curve the plants in the water which gives it that underwater feel also I use the paint brush tool, I will use the soft brush to give it that underwater blur and blend the colours together. I will use my knowledge of composition and perspective to plan out my work. Ill is using sketching to do observational drawings and to sketch out my ideas. I will be using the drawings for reference for my Photoshop drawings. See separate plan for timetable.

Stjepan Erdelijc

Wild West

Erdelijc does aquascapes, Incredible Aquascapes - Wild West

This piece shows a desert place submerged in water and how the wild west would look like in water and adding some fish also giving the image some blur to give that underwater feeling.
Erdelijc uses Photoshop to give this piece all the effects but not much information is on how he does his work, Erdelijc tries to make scenes on land like the wild west and submerge them to see what they would look like underwater and adding aquatic effects to the, Erdeljic focuses on the rocky cliff and making all the plant life vibrant and making somewhere with no life in it then giving life and making parts like a cactus stand out and look colourful.
The texturing plays a big part in this piece because of the effects it gives on the plant life and rocks on the other hand colour is also a major player because it switches two things around.
What i like about his work is that he takes a different look at places moreover making a dull place look nice and full of life, my final project is a underwater landscape in a fantasy world and this relates because he takes a place on land and submerges it in water.

This is an artist interpretation experiment in my living room in the same style as Stjepan Erdelijc but it didn't go quite right because the reflection on the water didn't work because of the direction  of the sun, i covered the entire scene in a light shade of blue and added a darker shade of blue near the bottom.

I updated my plan with things i am going to do as well as things i am going to do.

Fish Experiments.

These are my experiments for my fish, I used high key and low key lighting with different colours and blending them with each other to make it like a fish.

I changed the hue to blue and buffed the saturation up by 15 and changed the colour of the fish to green, then i made a school of fish that are all green.

These are my fish experiments, experiment 1 was my first school that i made furthermore, experiment 2 was my multicolour school of fish.
